Sacred Heart Academy’s English and Filipino Department celebrated this school year’s English Month through various exciting competitions for students of the academe and a webinar themed Global English: A Transformative Tool in the Age of Crisis, the guest speakership role of which was played by Mrs. Kamille D. Legaspi, LPT, MAEd, held last January 28.
Those various exciting competitions included: 1) Mask On, Read On: Virtual Literary Dress-Up, participated by students from Pre-School to Grades 1-3, wherein Nursery Kindness’ Brenon Lyle Rothero won 3rd for his portrayal of Frozen’s Kristoff, K-1 Cheerfulness’ David Liam Reyes placed 2nd while dressed as Tom Sawyer, the main character from Mark Twain’s eponymous novel, and Kinder 2 – Cooperation’s Marley Rhyle Amojilar was hailed as the winner for her depiction of Moana, the protagonist of the titular Disney animated picture; and 2) the Bookmark and Slogan-Making Contest, participated by students from Grades 4-6, where Grade 4 – Courtesy’s Blake Felipe Galang placed 3rd, Grade 6 – Trustworthiness’ Jaemiel Collins Azur placed 2nd, and Grade 5 – Prudence’s Hannah Miel Mariano won the 1st place.
For the older students, the competition TikTok: Virtual Literary Duet was held for those in Junior High School, where Grade 7 – Romans’ Aiofi Jheynel Pantig placed 3rd, the 2nd place was taken by Grade 10 – Athena’s Charles Eusebio, while the honor of winning the 1st place went to Grade 9 – Uranus’ Allyssa Viray. As for the Oratorical Speech Contest held for the Senior High School students, Grade 11 – HUMSS Manansala’s Unica Eve Ambida placed 3rd, Grade 12 – HUMSS Rembrandt’s Justine Joy Cativo won the 2nd place, and Grade 12 – STEM Physics’ Gian Neil Ignacio was hailed as the winner.
